NASA - 2012: Beginning of the End or Why the World Won't End?

Apparently, the world is going to end on December 21st, 2012. Yes, you read correctly, in some way, shape or form, the Earth (or at least a large portion of humans on the planet) will cease to exist. Stop planning your careers, don't bother buying a house, and be sure to spend the last years of your life doing something you always wanted to do but never had the time. Now you have the time, four years of time, to enjoy yourselves before… the end.
So what is all this crazy talk? We've all heard these doomsday predictions before, we're still here, and the planet is still here, why is 2012 so important? Well, the Mayan calendar stops at the end of the year 2012, churning up all sorts of religious, scientific, astrological and historic reasons why this calendar foretells the end of life as we know it. The Mayan Prophecy is gaining strength and appears to be worrying people in all areas of society. Forget Nostradamus, forget the Y2K bug, forget the credit crunch, this event is predicted to be huge and many wholeheartedly believe this is going to happen for real. Planet X could even be making a comeback.

For all those 2012 Mayan Prophecy believers out there, I have bad news. There is going to be no doomsday event in 2012, and here's why…

The Mayan Calendar
So what is the Mayan Calendar? The calendar was constructed by an advanced civilization called the Mayans around 250-900 AD. Evidence for the Maya empire stretches around most parts of the southern states of Mexico and reaches down to the current geological locations of Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador and some of Honduras. The people living in Mayan society exhibited very advanced written skills and had an amazing ability when constructing cities and urban planning. The Mayans are probably most famous for their pyramids and other intricate and grand buildings. The people of Maya had a huge impact on Central American culture, not just within their civilization, but with other indigenous populations in the region. Significant numbers of Mayans still live today, continuing their age-old traditions.
The Mayans used many different calendars and viewed time as a meshing of spiritual cycles. While the calendars had practical uses, such as social, agricultural, commercial and administrative tasks, there was a very heavy religious element. Each day had a patron spirit, signifying that each day had specific use. This contrasts greatly with our modern Gregorian calendar which primarily sets the administrative, social and economic dates.
Most of the Mayan calendars were short. The Tzolk'in calendar lasted for 260 days and the Haab' approximated the solar year of 365 days. The Mayans then combined both the Tzolk'in and the Haab' to form the "Calendar Round", a cycle lasting 52 Haab's (around 52 years, or the approximate length of a generation). Within the Calendar Round were the trecena (13 day cycle) and the veintena (20 day cycle). Obviously, this system would only be of use when considering the 18,980 unique days over the course of 52 years. In addition to these systems, the Mayans also had the "Venus Cycle". Being keen and highly accurate astronomers they formed a calendar based on the location of Venus in the night sky. It's also possible they did the same with the other planets in the Solar System.
Using the Calendar Round is great if you simply wanted to remember the date of your birthday or significant religious periods, but what about recording history? There was no way to record a date older than 52 years.
The end of the Long Count = the end of the Earth?
The Mayans had a solution. Using an innovative method, they were able to expand on the 52 year Calendar Round. Up to this point, the Mayan Calendar may have sounded a little archaic – after all, it was possibly based on religious belief, the menstrual cycle, mathematical calculations using the numbers 13 and 20 as the base units and a heavy mix of astrological myth. The only principal correlation with the modern calendar is the Haab' that recognised there were 365 days in one solar year (it's not clear whether the Mayans accounted for leap years). The answer to a longer calendar could be found in the "Long Count", a calendar lasting 5126 years.
I'm personally very impressed with this dating system. For starters, it is numerically predictable and it can accurately pinpoint historical dates. However, it depends on a base unit of 20 (where modern calendars use a base unit of 10). So how does this work?
The base year for the Mayan Long Count starts at "0.0.0.0.0". Each zero goes from 0-19 and each represent a tally of Mayan days. So, for example, the first day in the Long Count is denoted as 0.0.0.0.1. On the 19th day we'll have 0.0.0.0.19, on the 20th day it goes up one level and we'll have 0.0.0.1.0. This count continues until 0.0.1.0.0 (about one year), 0.1.0.0.0 (about 20 years) and 1.0.0.0.0 (about 400 years). Therefore, if I pick an arbitrary date of 2.10.12.7.1, this represents the Mayan date of approximately 1012 years, 7 months and 1 day.
This is all very interesting, but what has this got to do with the end of the world? The Mayan Prophecy is wholly based on the assumption that something bad is going to happen when the Mayan Long Count calendar runs out. Experts are divided as to when the Long Count ends, but as the Maya used the numbers of 13 and 20 at the root of their numerical systems, the last day could occur on 13.0.0.0.0. When does this happen? Well, 13.0.0.0.0 represents 5126 years and the Long Count started on 0.0.0.0.0, which corresponds to the modern date of August 11th 3114 BC. Have you seen the problem yet? The Mayan Long Count ends 5126 years later on December 21st, 2012.
Doomsday
When something ends (even something as innocent as an ancient calendar), people seem to think up the most extreme possibilities for the end of civilization as we know it. A brief scan of the internet will pull up the most popular to some very weird ways that we will, with little logical thought, be wiped off the face of the planet. Archaeologists and mythologists on the other hand believe that the Mayans predicted an age of enlightenment when 13.0.0.0.0 comes around; there isn't actually much evidence to suggest doomsday will strike. If anything, the Mayans predict a religious miracle, not anything sinister.
Myths are abound and seem to be fuelling movie storylines. It looks like the new Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is even based around the Mayan myth that 13 crystal skulls can save humanity from certain doom. This myth says that if the 13 ancient skulls are not brought together at the right time, the Earth will be knocked off its axis. This might be a great plotline for blockbuster movies, but it also highlights the hype that can be stirred, lighting up religious, scientific and not-so-scientific ideas that the world is doomed.
Some of the most popular space-based threats to the Earth and mankind focus on Planet X wiping most life off the planet, meteorite impacts, black holes, killer solar flares, Gamma Ray Bursts from star systems, a rapid ice age and a polar (magnetic) shift. There is so much evidence against these things happening in 2012, it's shocking just how much of a following they have generated. Each of the above "threats" needs their own devoted article as to why there is no hard evidence to support the hype.
But the fact remains, the Mayan Doomsday Prophecy is purely based on a calendar which we believe hasn't been designed to calculate dates beyond 2012. Mayan archaeo-astronomers are even in debate as to whether the Long Count is designed to be reset to 0.0.0.0.0 after 13.0.0.0.0, or whether the calendar simply continues to 20.0.0.0.0 (approximately 8000 AD) and then reset. 2012 has been a superstition to be the "End of the World" in many cultures around the world. One of the major evidence to be found is from the writings of the Mayan culture. The "End of the World" is stated in the Bible, in Nostradamos's prophecies, and even in Mayan culture. There are a number of websites dedicated for the "2012 End of the World" concept which has brought a lot of debate on the table. SatansRapture is one website that offers a number of information about the predictions. The site speaks of a large comet that could travel through our solar system causing catastrophic world changes. Some call it Planet X and others call it Nibiru . Supposedly this comet is larger than Jupiter and if it ever passes through our solar system it could cause planet Earth to shift the world's polar axis which could cause severe weather conditions such as tornados, hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, and climate changes. But, that is not simply enough to convince any normal reader that this could be true.


Well, if some website made by a proclaimed doomsday fan just brings skepticism then what about Nasa? What can Nasa tell us about Nibiru? Check this out, Nasa claims to have found another planet Nasa Site.
However, a simple chance of a comet colliding with the Earth is still possible but also slim. It has happened before and it’s more the possible to happen again. Could mankind be ready for this? Some engineers are developing nuclear warheads to use specifically on large objects that could collide with the Earth.
But, let’s forget about the comet theory for a bit. There are other hazardous things that could destroy life as we know it. The issue of "Global Warming" should not be neglected and be taken very seriously. However with natural "green" energy us humans could reverse global warming by installing natural energy into our own homes How to Build Solar Energy which is just one of many examples to control global warming. With the whole "green house effect" and temperatures rising every year the world will witness weather changes that could be irreversible. Would anyone believe that this could be the first time in human history where the North Pole will melt away completely by the end of summer? So let’s say "Global Warming" never causes any catastrophic events and amazingly people like Al Gore helps contribute to reverse it and humans go about their daily lives like nothing happened. We are forgetting other problems that could destroy us. Political tensions and the wars in the Middle East play a big role in the survival of human kind.
With the wars going on in the Middle East many believe it could get worse. How long has the war with Iraq been going on for? I remember just being a college student of the age of 20 years old when America first started bombing Iraq. And that was years ago. Sure, America has accomplished a lot in Iraq but there is a huge debate on what the main reason for the invasion to begin with. From what I remember there was supposedly "weapons of mass destruction" in Iraq. No weapons of mass destruction were found. And Iraq did not play a role in 9/11 either. But, I believe 9/11 triggered one of the reasons to invade Iraq as a purpose for "war against terrorism".

Either way it’s too late to point fingers at this time. There are issues in Afghanistan that need to be taken care of as well. Many lives have been taken, and I hope it’s not in vain. I wish someday that the world could be at peace and let everybody live their own lives equally in respect. The major issue I would like to bring up is Nuclear Weaponry. We have made threats or what others could call ultimatums against North Korea and Iran to cease any further nuclear weaponry. Iran will not give up and simply laughs at America. And honestly if we ever invaded Iran it would be more difficult then Iraq was. North Korea however eventually cooperated with America and destroyed any Nuclear development. Are you ready for a potential nuclear war or even another World War?

What would happen if two counties decided to bomb each other with Nuclear warheads? The effects would be everlasting and could take many lives for years to come. A nuclear explosion is equal if not stronger then the temperature of the Sun. And the radiation a nuclear bomb puts off could affect surrounding areas for a very long time. This results in cancer caused by radiation and many lives slowly fading away. A large enough nuclear bomb could cause an artificial winter destroying plant life and animals that depend on this type of food source. It's all a chain reaction that has nothing but negative effects.

Now another pandemic disease outbreak is on the potential rise with new virus's such as the Swine Flu and the Bird Flu. Could this be another sign of the apocalypse? Humans have witnessed and outlived pandemic outbreaks before in the past with the black plague, malaria, smallpox, Aids, etc. However, this doesn't mean that there could be a potential worldwide outbreak that could infect millions if not billions. Even if something such as the Swine Flu was to infect at least 1/3 of the world's population, then I believe it would be something that could not be contained at that point. It is scary to think about how a virus could mutate into something that our natural immune systems could not fight against. And what is up with the Economy people?!?! Seriously, America and most of the world is in an economic mess that is going to take quite some time to get out of. How does this happen to begin with? Who is to blame? How do we get out of it? Many people would speculate that Ex. President Bush got America into economic depression but really can you put all the blame on just one person? I think not! People are using too much resources and everything is becoming more expensive each day. We are spending too much in the West while the East is saving up so that puts an imbalance on the economy? The reality is, America is borrowing money from other countries like China and soon enough the American dollar will lose its value further. So, as much as I love this life and enjoy the planet we lay upon there plays a lot of risk living here. Some of the risk we can't prevent and others we can prevent. To reduce the risk is an easier living then what could be. Whatever happens in 2012 I hope it’s not the "End of the World" The world is a beautiful place and we should treat it as a gift that could not be replaced. I hope that everyone realizes the reality of our situation as today is here and tomorrow is never guaranteed. The world will end in 2012, say experts

The 2012 phenomenon comprises a range of eschatological beliefs that cataclysmic or transformative events will occur on December 21 or December 23, 2012,[1][2] which is said to be the end-date of a 5,125-year-long cycle in the Mayan Long Count calendar. Various astronomical alignments and numerological formulae related to this date have been proposed, but none have been accepted by mainstream scholarship.

A New Age interpretation of this transition posits that during this time, Earth and its inhabitants may undergo a positive physical or spiritual transformation, and that 2012 may mark the beginning of a new era.[3] Others suggest that the 2012 date marks the end of the world or a similar catastrophe. Scenarios posited for the end of the world include the Earth's collision with a passing planet (often referred to as "Nibiru") or black hole, or the arrival of the next solar maximum.

Scholars from various disciplines have disputed the idea that a catastrophe will happen in 2012, suggesting that predictions of impending doom are found neither in classic Maya accounts nor in contemporary science. Mainstream Mayanist scholars argue that the idea that the Long Count calendar "ends" in 2012 misrepresents Maya history.[2][4] To the modern Maya, 2012 is largely irrelevant, and classic Maya sources on the subject are scarce and contradictory, suggesting that there was little if any universal agreement among them about what, if anything, the date might mean.[5] Meanwhile, astronomers and other scientists have rejected the apocalyptic forecasts, on the grounds that the anticipated events are precluded by astronomical observations, or are unsubstantiated by the predictions that have been generated from these findings.[6] NASA has compared fears about 2012 to those about the Y2K bug in the late 1990s, suggesting that an adequate analysis should preclude fears of disaster.[6]

2012 WARNING

It has been over a year since the "two suns" event was delivered in the June 1, 2008 Message from the Blessed Mother. I did quite a bit of research in the past regarding the information presented in the June 1st message. I uncovered an unbelievable amount of information concerning the future of mankind and the immediate threat to our current way of life. According to the information I found, in the next few years we will see Earth changes that will be devastating to all living creatures on the planet. There will be compound crisis' happening at the same time in our cosmos. Planet X will be returning from its 3600 year orbit around our solar system. Which will bring with it six orbiting satellites with it. This return of Planet X will disrupt our solar system, and especially Jupiter, Neptune, Uranus, Venus, and the Earth. Planet X will enter our solar system at the edge and cross orbits with Jupiter. Jupiter could ignite at this time and become a baby sun. Nibiru will pass between the Earth on the Sun. This will cause the two suns to be seen by everyone in the world. Everyday people will be able to view the two suns by May of 2011 the latest.

The 11 1/2 year solar flare cycle will peak on 2012 causing solar flares that can knock out power grids around the world. These solar flares in conjunction with the return of Planet X, will cause devastation on the earth.

The sun, earth, and milky way will align at the galactic equator, on December 21, 2012, the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year, and the end of the Mayan calendar. This only happens every 25,800 years! For the first time in recorded history, our entire solar system will move BELOW the milky way galaxy. These combined cosmic events, will be the end of the world as we know it. About 6 billion people of the world will perish in just a few short years if this cosmic catastrophe occurs.

I know you will have to do some more investigations yourself, to see if there is any truth to what I am writing here. You may, or may not, believe it EVEN after you uncover the massive amount of scientific, astronomical, and historical proof, that we are in the of the end of days leading to 2012.
